What happens at the appointment

Your practitioner examines your ears and assesses whether microsuction is appropriate. If treatment is suitable, wax is removed using a fine suction tube while the ear is viewed through a microscope. Your practitioner explains the findings and any further care.

Before your visit

Follow the instructions provided when booking. Tell the clinic about previous ear surgery, an eardrum perforation or other ear conditions. Contact us if you are unsure about preparation.

Treatment and outcomes

Discomfort and treatment time vary. Removing obstructing wax may improve blocked-ear symptoms, but results vary and hearing symptoms can have other causes. Treatment and symptom relief cannot be guaranteed.
